Description
This ammonite fossil is over 60 million years old, which is when ammonites went extinct. The fossil is from Morocco. Although the pendant is quite large (3-1/4 x 2-1/8 inches), it weighs only 1.2 ounces. It's a very nice specimen, with a touch of red opalescent Ammolite on the back. I set it in sterling silver and include an 18" faux leather cord which has a metal lobster clasp and 2" extender. I include a polishing cloth. Store the pendant in its heavy duty plastic bag to prevent tarnishing.
I make smaller ammonite pendants as well as earrings. If they aren't in my Etsy shop, ask me and I'll make some for you.
P.S. The ammonite fossil is an excellent example of the "Golden Spiral" or "Fibonacci Spiral" in geometry.
