Sallyjane’s Gems

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 26, 2026

Sallyjane’s Gems uses personal information to run this website, help you shop, fulfill orders, and answer questions. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Please use our contact form for privacy questions or requests.

Information you share with us

  • Orders and delivery: your name, email address, billing and shipping addresses, phone number when requested, items and options ordered, order notes, and payment and refund status. If you send a gift, we also receive the recipient details you provide.
  • Accounts: your username, contact details, saved addresses, and order history if you have a store account. Passwords are stored in a protected form, rather than as readable text.
  • Messages and returns: the information you send when asking a question or requesting help. Our contact form collects your name, email address, message, and any phone number or order number you choose to provide. Submissions are saved in WordPress and may also be sent to our store team by email so we can respond and keep track of your inquiry. We also receive any photographs you choose to share during a follow-up conversation.
  • Reviews: your review, rating, display name, and email address. Approved reviews and their display names are public; your email address is not published as part of the review.

Please share only the information needed for your request. Do not send payment-card numbers or security codes by email or social media. If you provide another person’s delivery details, make sure you have permission to do so.

Information collected when you browse

Our website and service providers receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring website, search terms, and the time of your visit. We use this information for website operation, security, troubleshooting, and understanding how visitors find and use the store. An IP address may indicate an approximate location; the store does not need access to your device’s precise GPS location.

The site uses WordPress and WooCommerce, with Jetpack and WooCommerce analytics features supplied by Automattic. These features can send browsing and store-interaction information to Automattic. Its privacy notice for visitors to its customers’ websites explains how it handles that information.

Cookies and similar technology

Cookies and browser storage help remember your cart, keep you signed in, maintain security, and save preferences. WooCommerce also uses attribution cookies to record how a visit began, such as a referring site or campaign link, and may attach that information to an order. Analytics scripts and pixels help measure visits and interactions with the store.

You can delete or block cookies and limit tracking through your browser’s privacy settings. Blocking some cookies may prevent the cart, checkout, or account features from working correctly. Browser tracking signals do not turn off cookies that are needed to provide a cart or signed-in session. Please contact us about any privacy choice you cannot exercise through your browser.

How we use information

We use information to process and deliver orders, handle returns and refunds, maintain accounts, respond to messages, show reviews, prevent fraud, secure and improve the website, and keep records required for tax, accounting, and legal purposes.

If you ask to receive news or offers, we use your contact details for that purpose. You can unsubscribe or ask us to stop at any time. Order confirmations, delivery updates, and replies to your requests are separate from promotional messages.

Where a legal basis is required, we rely on fulfilling your order or request, meeting legal obligations, our legitimate interests in running and protecting the store, or your consent where required. You may withdraw consent by contacting us; this does not affect processing that was lawful before you withdrew it.

Payments

When online payments are available, the payment provider shown at checkout processes your payment details. For payments made through Square, please see Square’s privacy notice for customers. The provider receives the information needed to authorize and process the transaction and prevent fraud.

We receive information needed to manage the order, such as a transaction reference, payment status, and limited payment-method details. We do not store full payment-card numbers or card security codes in our store database.

When we share information

People who help operate Sallyjane’s Gems may access information needed to serve you. We also share information as needed with providers of website hosting, analytics, security, email delivery, payments, shipping, and professional services such as bookkeeping. For example, a shipping carrier needs a recipient’s name and address to deliver an order.

We may disclose information when required by law, to investigate fraud or protect legal rights, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business, subject to applicable privacy protections. We do not sell or rent customer contact lists.

If you post a review, it can be read by other visitors and indexed by search engines. If an avatar is shown using Gravatar, a hashed version of your email address may be sent to that service to find your profile image. Gravatar is operated by Automattic and is covered by its Privacy Policy.

Etsy and social media

If you follow a link to Etsy, Facebook, or Instagram, or message us through those services, their own privacy policies also apply. Purchases made on Etsy are processed through Etsy. We use information we receive about those orders to fulfill them and provide customer service.

How long we keep information

We keep information for as long as needed for the purposes described here. Order records may need to remain after an account is closed so we can meet tax and accounting obligations, handle disputes, prevent fraud, or establish legal rights. Retention depends on the kind of record and applicable requirements. Backup copies may remain until they are replaced or expire.

Security and international processing

We use safeguards such as encrypted website connections and restricted administrative access to protect information. No website, email service, or storage system can promise complete security. Please use a strong, unique password for any store account.

We operate in the United States. Our service providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate. Privacy laws may differ between countries; applicable protections and legal requirements still apply.

Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on where you live and the laws that apply, you may have rights to access or receive a copy of your information, correct it, request deletion, restrict or object to certain uses, withdraw consent, or opt out of particular disclosures or targeted advertising. Some records must be retained for legal or transaction-related reasons.

Use our contact form to make a request. We may need to verify your identity or an authorized representative’s authority before releasing or changing information. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. If we cannot fulfill a request, you may ask us to review the decision and, where available, complain to your privacy regulator. We will not penalize you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

Children and policy updates

The store is intended for adult shoppers and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can address it.

We may update this policy when our practices change. We will update the date above and provide any additional notice or obtain consent required by law.
