Description
This is a beautiful example of Boulder Turquoise. Boulder Turquoise is veins of turquoise running through the boulder or stone, sometimes called the "matrix." This cabochon is from the Royston Mines in Nevada. It was mined and cut by the Otteson family who are renowned Nevada turquoise miners. If you want to learn more about the turquoise mining process, check out "Turquoise Fever" on Amazon Prime. It's a one-season series on the Otteson family searching for and mining turquoise. It will give you an appreciation of the difficulty of procuring this beautiful gemstone. This pendant looks great on both men and women. The stone is backed with a vinyl backing to make it stand out in the bezel. This is a common practice for expensive stones like turquoise because it makes the stone stand out more without adding unnecessary expense. I set the stone in sterling silver and include a polishing cloth. To prevent tarnishing, store the pendant in its heavy duty plastic bag, then shine the silver briefly with the polishing cloth after wearing. You can purchase the pendant alone or include the optional sterling silver chain that is adjustable up to 24 inches. To adjust the length, just hold the large sterling bead and pull the chain through. The pendant comes in a jewelry pouch which is tucked into a gift box tied with a ribbon.
PS: Did you know that turquoise is a December birthstone?
