Description
"Royston Ribbon" is a type of boulder turquoise from the Royston Mines near Tonopah, Nevada. There is a thin vein of turquoise running through the stone resembling a ribbon. I've always thought that Royston boulder turquoise resembles an aerial view of the desert with a turquoise river flowing through it. This stone was mined and cut by the Otteson family who are renowned Nevada turquoise miners. If you want to learn more about the turquoise mining process, check out "Turquoise Fever" on Amazon Prime. It's a one season series about the Otteson family searching for and mining turquoise in Nevada. I set the stone in sterling silver and include a polishing cloth. Store the pendant in its heavy duty plastic bag to prevent tarnishing, then shine it gently with the polishing cloth after wearing. You can purchase the pendant alone or with an optional 24" adjustable chain. To shorten/lengthen the chain just hold the large silver bead and gently pull the chain through until it's the length you desire. I tuck the pendant into a decorative jewelry pouch, then enclose in a gift box tied with a ribbon — all ready to give to your favorite turquoise lover.
PS: Did you know that turquoise is a December birthstone?
